Exercises for Low Back Pain
If you plan to work as a massage therapist, it is essential that you fully appreciate and comprehend the underlying causes of low back pain. Not only must you learn how to treat this type of pain while in your massage studio, but you must also help your patients address the long-term causes of low back pain as well. This will include adjusting their sleep schedules, changing aspects of their diets, and incorporating back pain exercises into their daily routine.
Underlying Causes of Low Back Pain
There are many reasons why we suffer from low back pain. Bad posture, insufficient sleep, poor diet, stress buildup, and long hours at the office are fairly common culprits. Massage therapy, as effective as it is, can't always address these long-term causes. It's more effective for providing temporary relief.
Back Pain Exercises
One of the most useful and effective remedies for low back pain is regular exercise. But the back can be quite fragile, especially when a person is suffering from pain. This is why it's important that you understand the proper back pain exercises for each situation. You don't want to overexert muscle groups that are already fatigued. Gentle stretching and slow repetitions can be much more effective than a rigorous workout.
Fortunately, massage therapy school will teach you not only how to execute proper massages, but it will also teach you all of the various back pain exercises you can show your patients. In addition, many massage therapy programs will also teach you about proper nutrition, sleeping habits, and posture. In this way, you'll be well equipped to provide full and comprehensive back pain relief to your patients and clients.
