Learn to Use Massage Oils at Massage Therapy School
Incorporating massage oils into your therapy sessions can dramatically increase the overall effectiveness of whatever massage technique you are employing. Used properly, massage oils can further relax the patient, stimulate his or her olfactory senses (smell), activate the different muscle groups through heat, and generate feelings of wellness and bliss. But of course, it's important that you understand how to use them effectively. Fortunately, your massage therapy school can help you with all of this.

What Massage Therapy School Can Teach You
Although it's possible to learn how to incorporate massage oils without any training, massage therapy school can save you a lot of time and trouble. And given that you have to go to massage therapy school to become licensed as a practitioner anyway, it makes sense to take at least a few courses on how best to incorporate massage oils. Your classes will teach you how to select the proper ingredients (if you're going to make the oils yourself), how to find reputable vendors (if you're going to buy pre-made massage oil), and how to select the proper massage oil for the proper massage technique.

How Do Massage Oils Work Exactly?
The basic idea is pretty simple. The oil acts as a lubricant making your various massage strokes that much smoother and more effective. The herbal essences and extracts interact with the skin making it healthier and heartier. It also stimulates the patient's sense of smell thus inducing feelings of euphoria and relaxation. Lastly, some massage oils are heat activated which in turn heats up the muscles. As the muscles heat up, they become more pliable and receptive to whatever type of kneading and massaging you're doing.
