Just What is Massage Therapy?

Massage therapy is both an art and a science that has been passed down through the ages by healers from almost every civilization. While techniques may vary from region to region, the basic principle of massage therapy is the same. Practitioners try to promote better health and wellness by stretching and applying pressure to bones, muscles, and connective tissue. In doing so, two things happen:

1. They reduce the amount of lactic acid build up in the body, thus reducing the amount of stress, discomfort, or pain that a person often feels after excessive work or exercise.

2. The massage therapists help align the chakras and allow for greater movement of positive energy throughout the body, thus allowing for more happiness, centeredness, and spiritual well-being.
