Masseuse: Holistic Therapy Practitioner
If you decide to become a masseuse, you must understand that you are more than just someone who gives massages. You are a holistic therapy practitioner whose job it is to help patients overcome stress, pain, fatigue, and negative energy. A masseuse does more than just provide pleasant back rubs on a massage table. You are truly a medical practitioner in every sense of the word. In fact, massage therapy is a regulated profession that requires licensing in most states.

Where Can You Learn How to Become a Masseuse?
There are two easy ways to become a masseuse. You could go to massage therapy school (which is probably the most popular method). Or you could go to a holistic therapy program and take extensive coursework in massage therapy. Either way, your classes will provide you with training in areas such as anatomy, nutrition, massage therapy, yoga, meditation, and a host of other related disciplines. As you can see, massage therapy is truly a comprehensive skill that extends far beyond what most people envision when they think of a traditional masseuse.

Additional Responsibilities of a Masseuse
As a holistic therapy practitioner, you'll have additional responsibilities in addition to whatever massages you provide. Many of your patients will suffer from chronic back pain, various types of fatigue, assorted injuries, and a host of other ailments. Your job is to help them adjust their habits so as to achieve a healthier and more well-rounded lifestyle. This might include advising your patients to exercise more regularly, eat more balanced diet, and adhere to a strict sleeping schedule. Only then can you properly address the underlying causes of their symptoms.
