Treating Middle Back Pain with Aromatherapy Oils
Although middle back pain is not nearly as common as lower or upper back pain, it can be just as severe and devastating. As a massage therapist, you must be well equipped to handle middle back pain since it seems to be a growing phenomenon in a culture where we spent such long periods of the day at our desks. But in addition to providing patients with standard massage therapy, you should try incorporating aromatherapy oils into your routine as this will dramatically improve the overall effectiveness of your sessions.
What Do Aromatherapy Oils Do Exactly?
The goal of aromatherapy oils is twofold. First, the oil acts as a lubricant which makes each massage stroke that much smoother and more powerful. Second, aromatherapy oils release pleasant aromas that hope relax the body, which in turn relax the various muscle groups. As a result, the connective tissue and muscles are much more pliable and accepting of whatever pressure you apply.
Are There Other Ways to Treat Middle Back Pain?
There are actually many different ways to treat middle back pain. But it is important to highlight that back pain (upper, middle, or lower) is usually a symptom of a larger problem. That larger problem might be poor posture, bad eating habits, insufficient sleep, stress buildup, or negative energy. So any genuine treatment for middle back pain must address these underlying causes. Even numerous sessions on a massage table can't always treat chronic back pain. Sometimes, a lifestyle change is necessary for long-term results. That being said, regular massage therapy coupled with aromatherapy oils can yield pretty impressive results in the short-term.
