Muscle Fitness and Massage Education
If you believe that massage therapy is simply about kneading the muscles and relaxing the patient, think again. No massage education is complete without extensive coursework in muscle fitness, exercise, yoga, meditation, and proper nutrition. At a typical massage therapy school, you will have extensive coursework in biology, anatomy, physiology, diet, and a host of other disciplines relating to the human body. Without having a deep understanding of muscle fitness and maintenance, your massage education will be incomplete almost by definition.

Why Is Muscle Fitness so Important for Massage Education?
Muscle fitness is important because so much of the pain, fatigue, and stress that patients feel is a result of imbalances in the muscular tissue. One of the goals of massage therapy is to apply pressure to different muscle groups so as to better oxygenate the blood in those areas. As a result, lactic acid (one of the causes of sore muscles) begins to dissipate and the patient feels stress reduction, pain alleviation, and blissful euphoria.

Massage Education: Not All Schools Are the Same
If you have already begun researching different massage therapy schools, you also already know that not all programs are of the same quality. In order to receive the best possible massage education, make sure that your school devotes as much time to hands on massage therapy as it does to peripheral areas like muscle fitness, aromatherapy, yoga, and exercise. That's because massage therapy is most effective when the patient fully understands what steps he or she needs to take to lead a healthier lifestyle. Thus, bad habits, poor posture, poor diet, insufficient sleep, and lack of exercise must be reversed. To understand how best to rectify these problems, you massage education must be extensive.
