Reiki and Holistic Healing
Holistic healing has made tremendous headway in recent years despite occasional resistance from the established medical community. It seems that unconventional types of alternative medicine are extremely effective at treating many of the illnesses and injuries that plague modern society. Reiki healing is an excellent example of an alternative medicine technique that has remained on the fringes of established science until just a few years ago.
What Is Reiki Healing Exactly?
Reiki healing is a Japanese type of holistic healing that uses the body's natural abilities for recovery and rebuilding. A Reiki healing practitioner will place his or her hands on the patient in designated areas. Using visualization, meditation, mantras, and Chi, the practitioner is able to funnel negativity out of the patient and channel positive energy in. It is a style of holistic healing that science is unable to explain, but for whatever reason, it seems to work. It was first brought into popularity about a century ago when the Japanese philosopher and seminary educator Dr. Mikao Usui first began using it on his patients.
Other Types of Holistic Healing
Although Reiki healing is extremely popular, it is by no means the only type of holistic healing. Any type of medicine that treats the whole body in order to address localized problems can be considered a form of holistic healing. Other styles include massage therapy, regular exercise, meditation, and yoga.
