Rolfing and Aromatherapy Massage Oil
Rolfing (named after Ida Rolf) is an extremely popular style of massage that uses long deliberate strokes to help align muscle groups and connective tissue along the vertical. In a sense, Rolfing employs both yoga and traditional massage therapy to help elongate and strengthen the muscles so as to alleviate pain, reduce stress, and induce a general feeling of euphoria and well-being. Used by itself, Rolfing is extremely effective for both relaxation and medicinal purposes. Used in conjunction with aromatherapy massage oil, however, Rolfing can truly become a potent tool in a massage therapist's arsenal of techniques.

What Makes Aromatherapy Massage Oil So Special?
Aromatherapy massage oil is effective for several reasons. For starters, it works as a lubricant that makes each Rolfing stroke that much more intense and effective. Next, most aromatherapy massage oils help heat up the muscle groups below the surface of the skin, thus making them more pliable and malleable. Lastly, aromatherapy massage oil is infused with different herbal extracts that have been selected for their calming capabilities. Derivatives such as lilac, rose, and even aloe have all been proven time and time again to stimulate the olfactory senses (smell) for full body relaxation. Obviously, the more relaxed a patient is, the more effective the massage session will be.

Shopping for Aromatherapy Massage Oil
As you begin shopping around for different aromatherapy massage oils, make sure you stick with vendors that you can trust. If you need help or guidance, ask your Rolfing massage instructor for reputable stores or web sites that they use. It is important to select the right type of aromatherapy massage oil for your particular Rolfing technique. It's not something you ever want to skimp on.
