Build A Career Practising Thai Massage
If you're interested in training to practise Thai massage, then here's food for thought. As modern society turns increasingly to ancient healing methods, so the popularity of Thai massage is growing rapidly. Thai massage is expected to be a key trend for the spa industry, which, according to the International Spa Association, is the fourth largest leisure industry in the United States. The highest earning massage therapists in 2004 earned more than $32 an hour, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. And with Thai massage often attracting a premium, a specialization in Thai massage could bring you additional rewards.

Training Paths for Thai Massage
Thai massage uses different techniques to conventional Western massage. That means Thai massage training programs tend to focus specifically on this type or 'modality', rather than combining it with a general-purpose massage therapy training. Courses are geared towards therapists who'd like to gain an additional modality or those seeking a career change. Programs range from levels one to six, and from introductory weekend courses of just 8 hours, to advanced level courses requiring 130 hours of in-class learning and clinic practice. Some home study options are available too. Choose a program that is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) and certified by the International Thai Therapists Association (ITTA). You'll learn about anatomy, physiology, the emotional system, principles of yoga, and how to use your arms, feet, knees, and bodyweight. Launch your career in Thai massage with one of the many training options.
