Thai Massage As a Back Pain Remedy
As an aspiring massage therapist, it is imperative that you have a stockpile of back pain remedies in your arsenal of techniques. After all, the vast majority of patients who walk into your studio, office, or clinic will complain of varying degrees of back pain. Different practitioners like to employ different massage styles, but knowing how to incorporate Thai massage into your routine will prove invaluable to your patients and to your overall massage therapy practice.

What Is a Thai Massage and How Can It Help As a Back Pain Remedy?
Thai massage is one of the most labor-intensive bodywork techniques in common use today. You literally manipulate the entire body into various yoga-like positions while employing different aspects of Shiatsu and Swedish massage. Typically, Thai massage is a full body exercise that targets all the major muscle groups. The reason that Thai massage is so effective, however, is because it targets the muscles around the back (including the legs, shoulders, and buttocks). The mistake that too many people make is believing that back pain can only be treated by massaging the actual trouble areas. But remember, all the muscles and connective tissue are interconnected. An effective back pain remedy must address the problem holistically and not just locally.

Permanent Back Pain Remedy
It's also important to remember that although a Thai massage can provide immediate relief, it's not a long-term back pain remedy. It's still important to help patients adjust different aspects of their lifestyles so as to reduce the likelihood of additional spasms or lapses. Improving the posture, changing the diet, and adjusting the sleep schedule are usually more effective for long-term back pain relief.
