Thai Massage and Lower Back Pain Exercise
Of all the different massage styles, the Thai massage is one of the most rigorous and labor intensive. That's because the practitioner physically manipulates the entire body into yoga-like positions while kneading the muscle groups and connective tissue. This is why the Thai massage is a favorite among those who suffer from different types of lower back pain. They truly receive a comprehensive full body workout while enjoying the many numerous therapeutic benefits of a deep tissue massage.
Incorporating Lower Back Exercises into Your Routine
If you are a Thai massage therapist, it's fairly likely that many of your patients will be regular customers who suffer from chronic back pain. It's important to instruct them in at least one type of lower back pain exercise so that they can better address the long-term causes of whatever is causing that pain. A standard lower back exercise might include gentle crunches, various types of yoga positions, swimming, power walking, and cycling. However, it's also important to recognize that lower back pain is often a symptom of some deeper problem such as poor posture, bad sleeping habits, or malnutrition. So it's important to help your patients alter various aspects of the lifestyle in addition to practicing whatever lower back pain exercise you feel would be most effective.
Is Thai Massage the Only Style You Should Master?
Although many massage therapists specialize in one or two areas, most of them are quite familiar with a wide variety of massage styles. So even if you decide to focus on Thai massage, don't limit yourself. Make sure you fully understand Swedish massage, Shiatsu, reflexology, and deep tissue massages as well. Both your business and your patients will be appreciative as a result.
