Giving a Therapeutic Full Body Massage
If you've ever received a full body massage, you already know how relaxing and calming they can be. But were you also aware that giving a full body massage can be therapeutic? That's right. Massage therapy has been shown time and time again to help speed the body's natural healing and recovery abilities. Not to mention that problems such as bad posture, muscle fatigue, poor blood circulation, stress buildup, and poor digestion can all be corrected by giving a full body massage that employs time-tested massage therapy techniques.

More on Giving a Therapeutic massage
It's important to remember, however, that giving a full body massage is not the same thing as giving a therapeutic massage. Practically anyone can give an informal massage, but it won't necessarily produce medicinal or therapeutic results. This is why massage therapy school is so essential. Most programs will provide you with extensive coursework in human anatomy, physiology, diet, exercise, meditation, and a host of other disciplines. Armed with this knowledge, you'll be able to provide patients with a much more effective full body massage.

It's also important to remember that massage therapy is a regulated profession. That's because a massage done improperly can actually do more harm than good. As a result, what begins as a therapeutic massage might end up tearing muscle tissue, disrupting the bones, and misaligning connective tissue.

Things to Think about When Giving a Full Body Massage
For starters, it is important to know what you're doing. Do you want to provide a therapeutic massage or just a relaxing massage? If the former, what symptoms is the patient feeling? What are the surrounding muscle groups around the problem area? Does the patient have a history of injuries, stress, or pain? Make sure you can answer these questions before trying to give a full body or therapeutic massage.
